Second Rehearsal on Wednesday

Many thanks to all that attended our first rehearsal of term last Wednesday – it has been quite a while since Regent House looked so packed!

Our second rehearsal will take place from 7pm this Wednesday 3rd October in Regent House. If you didnt manage to join Choral yet this term, don’t fret as you may sign up at Wednesday’s rehearsal. We look forward to seeing you there as we continue our preparations for the Mozart C Minor / Haydn Nelson Mass concert in November.

First Rehearsal

It has been an extremely busy Freshers’ Week for Choral this year. After five days of signing up new members, performing a concert in the Chapel, and holding a wine reception, it is now time to look ahead to the coming term.

Choral’s activities for the 2012-13 academic year will begin in earnest with our first rehearsal this coming Wednesday, 26th September at 6.30 pm in Regent House (which is above Front Arch, enter college through the front gate, take the door on the right under the arch and follow the stairs up to the top floor). As many new members will be signing up, and scores will need to be distributed, please arrive on time so that the actual rehearsal can begin promptly.

The programme for our upcoming concert (to take place in the Public Theatre at the end of November) will consist of Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor and Haydn’s Nelson Mass.

If you didn’t get a chance to sign up with Choral during Freshers’ Week, be sure to come along and join on Wednesday evening (no audition required for prospective members with musical experience).

After rehearsal, we will be heading to Mc Turcaills on Townsend Street for food and socialising!

Freshers’ Week 2012 and plans for upcoming academic year

The commencement of the 2012-13 academic year is imminent, and promises to be a tremendously exciting on for Choral. We are delighted to invite the incoming Freshers to join the society in the coming weeks. Choral will have a stand in Front Square during Freshers’ Week (17-21 December) where prospective members can sign up (no audition required!). Our first rehearsal will take place in Regent House (above Front Arch) on Wednesday 26th September 2012 at 6.30pm

The programme for Michaelmas Term will comprise of W.A. Mozart’s Mass in C minor and J. Haydn’s Nelson Mass. For the Hilary Term concert, Choral will perform Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem and Mendelssohn’s Die erste Walpurgisnacht.

Choral also has an exciting set of events planned for Freshers’ Week this year. On Thursday 20th September, a small group of Choral members will perform Vivaldi’s Gloria and Mozart’s Coronation Mass in a free concert in the TCD Chapel to begin at 7pm. On Friday 21st September, Choral will host a Wine Reception in the Elizabethan Room on the first floor of House 6 (above the Students’ Union shop) at 7pm. This event is a great opportunity to meet other Freshers’ that share an interest in music and singing!

We look forward to many new members join over the coming weeks and seeing you all at our Freshers’ Week events and our first rehearsal on 26th September.
