Join the University of Dublin Choral Society in our upcoming performance of W.A. Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor and Haydn’s “Nelson Mass”.
The Mass in C Minor is one of Mozart’s great choral works, but, like his Requiem, remains unfinished. UDCS performed the Irish premiere of this work 106 years ago, and is delighted to present it once again.
Haydn’s Missa in Angustiis (Mass for troubled times), popularly known as the Nelson Mass, is one of his finest settings of the mass. It is a work of sharp contrasts – after beginning with the Kyrie in the foreboding key of D minor, the work quickly develops into a joyous celebration, written with a great sense of clarity and confidence.
