It’s been a great Freshers’ Week for Choral thus far, with well in excess of 100 new members joining the society! On Friday evening at 6 pm we will be hosting our main event for the week – a wine reception. It should be a great opportunity for new members to meet each other and the committee for the upcoming year. It’s being held in the Eliz Rooms on the first floor of House 6 (the one with the SU shop!). If you havn’t yet joined, we will of course be at our stand in Front Square near the Chapel until 4 pm on Friday to sign you up. Hope to see a good turnout at the reception and then at the first rehearsal next Wednesday!

The first day of Freshers’ Week has been a great success with many new members joining Choral. A quick reminder about this week’s events – we are joining the Hist for their pub crawl tomorrow (Tuesday). Meet at the Hist stand in Front Square at 6 pm for that. Then, on Friday, we are hosting our wine reception to kick off the year. It should be a good opportunity to meet the committee and other new members. It’s on in the Eliz Rooms, House 6 (First Floor) at 6pm. Then of course there’s our first rehearsal on Wednesday the 29th, where we are expecting a big turnout. We hope to see as many members as possible at these events over the coming days.

It’s that time of year again – Fresher’s Week is now but a few days away, and Choral is all set to get going with the new academic year. Our committee members will be at the society stand in Front Square throughout next week to sign up new members and also to welcome back previous members. Our main event for next week is a wine reception in the Eliz Rooms on the first floor of House 6 at 6 pm on Friday the 24th of September. We hope to see many of you there!

Of course, Choral will not truly be back in business until our first rehearsal in Regent House on Wednesday 29th September at 18:30. Our programme for the Michaelmas Term Concert will be a Christmas themed celebration of the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, consisting of Fantasia on Christmas Carols and Hodie and will take place in the Exam Hall, Trinity College. We looking foward to seeing you at our events over the coming weeks.

After what seems like an eternity since our last concert series in March, Choral is once again gearing up for the beginning of a new academic year. Freshers Week is rapidly approaching, and our first rehearsal will be taking place on the 29th of September in Regent House.

The makeup of the committee for the forthcoming year has been decided. Holly Furlong, the registrar of the society from last year will take over from David Kearney as the Secretary. Best of wishes to Holly and the entire committee for the upcoming year!

The performances of the Bach and Rutter Magnificats in March were hugely successful and brought the 2009/2010 season to a close. A huge thanks goes out to all that were involved with Choral throughout the year and we look forward to the 2010/2011 season with a great sense of anticipation.
